Chocolate Chip Rolls
You want to bake chocolate rolls at home like from the baker on the corner? Then you’ve come to the right place! The recipe is very easy for more experienced bakers, but also for absolute beginners no witchcraft. If you want to go directly to the recipe, scroll to the bottom of the page.
Our chocolate rolls are of course made from one dough. If you have never or rarely worked with yeast, don’t worry! I’ll give you some helpful tips.
First you have the choice between dry yeast or a fresh cube. Stir the slightly warm water and milk with the yeast and sugar. After waiting about 10 minutes, you should see small bubbles on the surface of the liquid. This means that the yeast is already working and multiplying. You can also skip this step, but if the yeast is too old, it can (theoretically) happen that it no longer works properly. But it has never happened to me, so I would not worry too much.
The remaining ingredients off in the bowl and now knead a dough from it. The ratio of liquid to flour is extremely individual and depends, among other things, on air pressure and humidity. The dough should not stick. In other words, if your dough sticks to your hands too much, add some more flour. But be sparing, because if you add too much flour, the rolls will quickly become too firm.
After the kneading is finished, we have to let the dough rise. During this time, the yeast bacteria multiply and the volume of the dough increases greatly. To do this, cover the bowl well and place it in a warm place or at least protected from drafts.
Now you only have to form individual rolls, let them rest for a short time and bake them. The exact temperature and baking time can be found at the bottom of the recipe!
For those who now have even more desire to bake: Why not try our Kaiser rolls or baguettes next.
Have fun baking and eating!
